While it did its job admirably with every mic / mixer combo i through at it (no popping sounds when pressing the button etc) and was easy to operate by hand or foot, the unit i received gave out way too soon. After a month or so one of the two functions (push to talk / push to mute) stopped working alltogether and a bit later the other one became problematic as well (letting more sound leak through that it's supposed to). All in all not recommended and i will avoid Rolls in the future for reliability reasons.
The powder-coated steel construction and button switch are very well built, and there is no noise or crackling when pressing the switch.
It also has two screw holes on the bottom. This makes it possible to mount it upside-down underneath a desk or on a wall for example. You screw the black part of the case into the desk, and then attach the blue part to the black part using the four screws on the side (shown in the picture). It would have been more stable if there were four holes on the bottom instead of two, but it works reasonably well.
Note that it does not mute the sound completely, but reduces it by about -60dB. Sometimes this can make a difference.
the concept of a cough button is a good one but the problem I am having with this one is the sound the switch makes I am not talking about an electronic click on the recording but the mechanical sound the button makes when you push it. it is very distinct click on the recording. to be honest I feel this product is way overpriced to be having issues like this
