Recommended with Tannoy 5 Gold monitors and Babyface Pro

I had the problem that the output of my RME Babyface Pro (the old model) has a fixed output that drives the Tannoy Gold 5 monitors too hot.
The result of this is that the main output of the sound card had to stay at -40dB, lowering the resolution of the audio and pumping the self noise. In the rme forums ("Level mismatch solutions - fixed and variable attenuators"), they suggested this product and I admit that they work perfectly to attenuate the sound card output so that I can turn my main output back to 0dB.
I am using this attenuator in my hifi setup at home, the reason being that I connect a streamer (Wiim Pro Plus) directly to a power amp. Since the former has only digital attenuation it sometimes messes up with the volume (especially when I use Air Play) and sends full signal to the power amp. After reading online about these attenuators I decided to purchase a couple of them and tried them connected to the power amp. They do not introduce any kind of noise nor do they alter the signal in any way that I can subjectively perceive. Also, they do their job: Even when I crank up the volume to insane levels it remains within the boundaries of an SPL that doesn't damage my speakers and hearing.
I bought a few of these for some loud sources I'm dealing with in my studio such as my subkick, LDC overheads, SDC's on close mic'd drums etc. The sources are very hot, so I needed some pads to not clip my mics in digital and this little thing caught my eye.
It's way cheaper than most of the competition and it's pretty versitile in offering you 3 steps of padding. Overall, great product!
