I bought this for my wife to improve her rhythm, counting and timing to help on her other instruments.
The cajon itself is well made, and fairly robust. Apart from the front it is covered with a matt black tough paint, which fills the joints and also ensures no splinters (which is have seen on some oter far more expensive cajons) where the front meets the rest of the body. The unit also has very good and large rubber feet.
The cajon itself is quite loud and provides not too boomy a bass tone in the middle. The 'sizzle' strings are OK and provide a snare'ish rattle but out of personal preference I have screwed in a third-party cajon multi-strand snare wires to the middle support which improves the overall experience greatly.
For a cajon to learn on it is great and should allow you to learn all of the basic and with the bag which it comes with allows you to venture out of the house to play with others.
The cajon comes with an excellent gigging bag and to put it into perspective, some cajon bags alone cost more than this set.
All in all I am very happy with this Thomann purchase and would highly recommend it.
