I wanted a set of humbuckers in a single coil size to fit a telecaster I made which had a mahogany body. I was going for Fender meets Gibson. These were just about the only ones available on the market, without paying silly prices.
They're a bit more complicated to wire up than a traditional single coil pick up, the wires being very thin. However I managed it and I wouldn't say I'm any better than 'average' with a soldering iron.
Once plugged in I was really impressed with the sound. Absolutely huge!!! If its a Rock sound you're after then these are going to make you very happy.
All in all I'm very happy with the purchase. Delivery only took 3 days to the UK and I could not find anyone else selling these at anything like the price I paid. The next cheapest was £20 more.
I'm planning on making another mahogany telecaster soon and these will be the pick ups that are going in it.
Put those on my Custom shop Telecaster. It came with quarter pounder neck and bridge. Those are hot, but rails are something different. Lowering the volume on the guitar to match the single coil output makes the tone much fuller with higher lows and balanced mid/high. On the Seymour Duncan site, they say those are for Rock and Metal, but clean on Deluxe Reverb is superb. Like cruising with V8 under the hood. All you need is to hit that string and its bye bye :D.
I’m delighted with these and 100% recommend them to anybody who is looking to upgrade their telecaster. I put these in my made in Mexico tele and was immediately impressed by how “full” it sounds while still keeping a distinct tele sound/feel. Immediately a much thicker sound, and perfect for the music I play (metal/punk/hardcore). I didn’t have the tools to install myself, but took it to a local shop to install them. I was told that it is a very tight fit with the bridge pickup, but that it was okay in the end, so I would encourage anybody to double check the measurements before buying and it should be fine :)
I bought them because I really liked the videos online.
I really like Seymour Duncan pickups but with these I had one big issue.
The bridge pickup doesn't fit to Fender MIM tele standard bridge.
For that reason I had to send them back. You need vintage bridge to get them installed.
