The build quality is impeccable. Competing mounts usually rely on one or two weld points keeping the entire system together. This has no welds, just solid connectors holding machined metal. There are also lovely afterthoughts like the protective protrusion that holds your mic cable out of the way of the hinge mechanism and the knurling on the grip that you can hold it at any odd angle while adjusting the mic.
This swivels all around while the latch is open. You can twist the metal into the threads of the microphone without needing to rotate the microphone.
After locking the latch, it does not move at all. At least one person can hang with their full weight from this hinge, and as long as the nylon connector is properly tightened (but never overtightened!) it will still not allow even one degree of travel.
It comes with a handful of accessories for fitting onto different types of mic stands. The company also can replace any of the components (look for "Parts Identifier Guide" on their website) if you somehow let a battle tank or hydraulic press break something on this part.
These are certainly expensive—almost 5% of the cost of a Neumann U87—but you get every bit of value for your money with this microphone holder.
