Does the job perfectly and safely.
The mechanism to grab the violin is smart and works well (the "jaws" could open a bit more when the violin is lifted, but that's not the end of the world).
The bow hook is far enough from the violin scroll to ensure that those two never touch each others, which was my concern with cheaper violin stands.
Even with a shoulder rest, the violin fits very well.
100% satisfied.
I'm happy with my purchase. The stand it's quite stable though sometimes if you hit the stand which is light there's a really small chance of dropping your violin. So avoid to have it close to crowds.
Ideal for gigs. Hercules makes sturdy equipment. It's light and small to carry. I can take it everywhere with me, fits in my bag. No more having my case on stage! Recommend it!
I play with a busy function band. Hercules have a rep for good sturdy roadworthy products. I know the mic and speaker stands are good from fellow musicians. However, as nice as this violin stand is it hasn't stood the test of time. I have plenty of other boom stands/mic stands/guitar stands that have all been gigged for years and are still working fine. Of course it goes without saying that I look after my gear. This stand is more suited for home use or in a studio where its not going to face the rigours of regular live gigging. It still works but it became unstable and loose within a few months of purchase. I have now retired it to my home studio. Would not recommend for a gigging musician. It would be fine for home use or a teaching studio in my opinion.
Very easy to setup and get working. Even though it's not sold as a portable model, it folds up compactly enough that it's easy enough to carry around when necessary.
The quick grip works exactly as advertised and holds the violin securely.
The additional bit for the holding the bow is a clever design addition.
