Might not be the best quality strings out there but definitely better than no name OEM strings with a random brand logo on them. I've had no issues with setting up them. About the sound, I feel like it's a bit brighter than I'd like it to be, hence the branding says "western". Nothing really disturbing but if you have a smaller body guitar, combination with these strings might upset you unless you're after a brighter tone. Anyway, it's safely usable especially on cheaper guitars for home sessions. I'd go higher quality for the gigs though.
I restrung my Takamine with these as the factory strings sounded cheap to me (how to describe that? Thinner less rich tone than I had hoped for). These made the guitar sound a lot better IMO (maybe the factory strings had been put on a long time before I received it and had gone stale?)
The conclusion is that I am happy with these strings. They have been on the guitar now for a couple of months, many rehearsals and a few gigs and still sound OK, although I will change them soon.
Cheap as hell, which is great at the rate I go through strings. (constant gigging) But lacklustre sound, very quiet, no sustain. On my Martin. Will be replacing if recording. Surprised by all the rave reviews, fine for casual use I suppose.
