I replaced a set of Gen 3s where the middle pickup had gone intermittent. As far as I could tell because of a manufacturing flaw. The construction of all the Fender noiseless pickups is relatively complicated and delicate. There is lot jammed under the covers and more to go wrong than a conventional single coil. They sound OK and do cancel hum.
I bought these for higher gain purposes, which they handle much better than vintage style singles, tone is very decent, but i'd say clarity is a little compromised, compared to similarly expensive vintage singles. They are o.k. for my purposes.
Probably the best of both worlds.
These pickups replaced a set of Fender SCN pickups in one of my stratocasters. Compared to the SCN pickups they are worlds more clear with a cut to the high frequency end. They can also be driven with a rounded distortion using a Tube Driver, etc. The pickups also are very quiet in terms of humming through various amplifiers or Line 6 Helix + FRFR amp. Goes down as a good buy.
finally after something like 70 years, Fender managed to make high quality pickups with the typical stratocaster sound, but without any buzz. Great for every style.
