Just got it. It went into Chapman ML-1ash that has been having tone issues from the start. The stock passive humbucker was high output but overall tone did not match guitars natural tone too well. EMG 57 cured all the issues I had with this guitar including serious ground noise and harsh top end. Chapman ML-1(old model) needed some routing around pickup cavity and maybe needs a neck shim because I can not lower the new pickup anymore. Luckily EMGs work fine close to the strings. Solderless insatlliation was amazingly simple though :) I am a EMG fan now.
I bought the EMG 57 for my Schecter Damien Elite. Due tot the fact that is already was an active system, switching the pickups was easy to do. EMG promised the warmth of a passive pickup with the benefits of an active one and that is exactly what it does. The sound is bright, loud, but with enough mid tone to keep the warmth I'm used to. A great pickup and i recommend it tot everyone that is looking for an active pickup that sounds like a passive one but with a bit more punch.
Crisp
Heavy
power full
So Dynamic like a passive pickups
No Noise as all active pickups
And it will punch you in the face hard like a active pickup does
