Excellent, but...

I have to admit it, these strings are really excellent, I happen to like how they sound, they are very pleasant to the touch and after MORE THAN A YEAR (!!!!!) I can't notice any difference in sound and touch! Only the G string MAYBE (but I'm not sure) is a tiny little bit more hysterical to tune than when it was new, but the G string is a notorious pain in the ass to tune in any scenario, so this isn't really an issue. And my guitar stay in tune for days anyway, as she always has done.

So, are these the perfect strings? Well... I'm not sure. If you just want to mount them and forget they are on and just play for months and months then they are. But if you are like me and need some "quality time" to spend with your guitar(s)... nurturing the fingerboard with precious oils... polishing the lacquer with essences that Stradivari would have killed for... touching her in hidden places... all those maybe unnecessary but for me important things... well, with these strings all these things are gone. And I really miss them badly.

Conclusion: I can't honestly give less than 5 stars for the quality and the sound of these strings, but... they are simply far too durable for my taste, hence the general three stars. But if you need strings that simply don't wear out for at least MONTHS then the Polyweb are the s...

Best strings so far

I've been searching for strings for my super strat with HSS pickup combination. I found the tone of uncoated strings on this particular guitar either too harsh when new or dull when older resulting in an uncontrollable tone. These elixirs are predictable. They are on the warm side, but this was my intention, because they give this guitar a balanced sound and work well across all tone and pickup settings. I'll probably try out the whole range still just out of curiosity, but right now I think these are the one for this particular instrument. Certainly not planning to go back to uncoated. Changing after about 3 months vs week(s) with uncoated.

Almost great but not quite there

I'm using the strings in standard tuning on a Tele.

I bought these string because I live in a humid environment and I've always had to change strings often due to oxidation.

Pros: - Solved the issue of oxidation. The coating on the strings really works.
- They feel very smooth to the touch and getting up and down the neck is fast and easy.
- Tuning stability is brilliant. Once properly stretched and tuned, they stay that way for a long time (at least on a Tele/string-through or fixed bridge).
- The sound is very neutral, in the sense of they doesn't emphasize any frequencies.

Cons: - The tension is quite high and it makes for more difficult bending. I'll probably try a lighter gauge.

I think these strings are worth trying. I'm not completely sold on them yet simply because difficulty in bending.

Long lasting, great sounding.

Use:
I use Elixers on all my guitars. Tele, PRSCU24, LP and a custom build. I gig at least once a week (twice most weeks) and practice for aprox 4 hours/week.
Pros:
They 'stretch in' really quickly and hold tuning excellently. These are lasting me for 8 or 9 gigs (as opposed to 2 gigs with Ernies or D'addies) and they still sound pretty new when I change them!
Cons:
Sound a little bit darker than uncoated strings and the coating starts to flake off (for me) after 7or 8 gigs.

Overall:
Excellent value for money on a £/gig basis. These are reliable, good quality strings and well worth the money.
Although they aren't quite as 'bright' as uncoated strings, they sound almost the same the day I take them off as they did the day I put them on. They don't go 'dead' the way uncoated strings do.
I definitely recommend trying a pack
