Heard a lot about this strings, so for once I decided to try them out.
Through my 40 years as a guitar player I played on number of string brands, normally all my guitars are set up with really low string action for 10-46 strings. That´s the way I like it. When it comes to Elixir nanoweb. Yes, they probably last long, how long I don´t know yet, since I just have had them for some days on two of my Charvel model 4 guitars, and one Larrivee RS 4 from 1986 with original Floyd Rose and EMG 81 and 85.
The problem with Elixir strings that I have is, at least according to my taste, they sound quite closed in sound, they have bottom, mid, but feels like someone has cut a part of that "treble air" as I call it, from 10khz and up. They just don´t have that upper edge I can hear with for example D`Addario or Dean Markley strings. And to be honest, my to go strings I play in studio and practice on, is Darco Strings. They are , in my opinion better than Elixir, although they are much cheaper. And guess what? I can easy practice like 2 hours a day for 2-3 month, and they still sound great. So honestly, I don´t know what´s so exceptional with Elixir strings.
But once again, that´s only my taste and what I feel and hear....
