Bought this mic preamp to extend my RME Fireface UFX II, and to record drums.
I have several other mic preamps like Great River and focusrite, and Audient sounds very good compared to them.
I really like to use it on drums because I get a good natural drum recording with good punch and crispy naturally high frequencies.
It is very nice with the variable low cut filter.
The only thing I do not like is that it does not have a power switch but I can easily live with that
Product is solid and well built. Burr-Brown converters are sweet and the Audient pres very clear and detailed. Choose these for a more exacting and less warm -pre than the RME offerings. Shame this has no on/off and has sample rate lights always on because of this issue. The DB25 in/out is very handy here for connections to other gear.
Using this to extend my input range for my Apollo 8 studio is brilliant. I run a selection of quality preamps on these 8 Audient chans for what I feel is some additional punch or grit, great for drum kits, guitar rigs and just about anything that you wanna be bolshy with. The other 8 Apollo chans are superb as always but having the Audient additional via Adat is in my opinion better than more Apollos as it gives an extra flav when and if needed.
i use it with my Audient iD 14 USB interface and also with my MOTU 828 for its digital output.
Some times i have to use a lot of gain to get a good signal level but this is not a problem.
