when I first unpacked the AKG WMS 40 Mini Instrument ISM2 it was kinda disappointing. the casing felt really cheap on both receiver and transmitter, and they both also weigh next to nothing.
But after I've been playing around with it for a few days now, I must say that even its made of lightweight cheap materials it works flawlessly. And I guess with that price you just buy a new if it breaks down on you.
One thing I wish though, it would be cool if you had the option to chose between frequencies. That said, to that price you can't beat what you get.
Me and the bassist from our band ordered this and ISM3 product, and we have to say it's an awesome piece of wireless for the money.
Pro's:
- Batteries last extremely long
- It takes only one batery to power the transmiter.
- The transmiter is small.
- The price is awesome.
Con's:
- I wish you could set the frequencies.
- I miss the ability to install receiver inside rack.
- There could be an XLR out.
Overall I think you can't go wrong with this. For the on stage use and to use it around 1 - 15 metres, you can't beat the price/quality equation. If anything went wrong with my current one, I would definetly buy another.
I bought it as it was on sale and I had a large stage gig ahead of me with my main band.
It's really really easy to use, the battery doesn't run out too fast, and it has a relatively long reach before any latency starts to appear (20m or so).
I'm very satisfied with it and would definetly recommend it and buy it again if the current one should fail.
