When the trumpet arrived the valves were not smooth and stuck down irregularly despite re-oiling, but they improved with wear over a period of a few weeks and with regular oil. As this is a backup school trumpet we did not send it back or complain, but buyers of this model should beware that although the basic trumpet is well made, the valves might not work very smoothly. This was a bit disappointing, as our other experience with Thomann products have been first class.
Although i'm just a beginner, i wasn't impressed with the overhall quality.
Some details seem a little "cheap", but it still looks good anyway.
The mouthpiece that comes with it isn't good at all. As a beginner i struggled a lot in getting an open and stable sound with it. Tried it with another mouthpiece and it improved a bit.
I'm pretty sure that in that price range there are better options (maybe the TR-620 L or TR-4000L, which i think i will try for my marching band standard trumpet. Both were also recommend trumpets from the brass section staff at Thomann - great people! Thanks a million for the patience!)
I've bought for myself a Yamaha YTR-3335 and it makes a HUGE positive difference.
This trumpet is good for a beginner but the valves do not feel very well made. It also doesn't feel completely tight but for the price it's a great beginners instrument or a beater horn for more advanced players.
My first trumpet. I don;t have experience with other ones but from what I've seen for the price you get a very good instrument. Quality is not the best but the is no obvious problem. Valve get a bit slow some times but it goes out with good fingering, when the instrument has warmed up, and regular oil. Will go away with time. Tone is really nice but i don't really have a lot of other references so don't quote me on that. I would recommend it to any beginner!!!
