Superlux HD-681

This is my second pair I have bought. The build quality is quite alright - my last pair of headphones in this price range was from Sennheiser which have a thin cable that eventually breaks. This is not an issue with these. They are comfortable to wear.

They have some phase issues in the low end, furthermore they have some exaggerated highs with some slight sibilance. And I think they have some mid-range scope. This is not something that makes them fatiguing to listen to. They have a good amount of details and stereo perspective. They are quite handy as casual hifi-headphones. And cheap enough that you can use them for travelling or backpacking or the like. However I would not trust these when mixing or any other kind of critical listing. Here I stick with a pair of DT990.

They are semi-open, what you are listening to doesn't escape as much as with the DT990. The presumably scoped mids along the semi openness makes them quite good for tracking vocal, acoustic guitar and the like. You can both hear the instrument in the room while still monitoring with the headphones. So you don't have to only use one of the ear cups.

Jeg fik dem som del af et bundle med et andet produkt (trommesæt). Til prisen er de forbløffende gode. Altså, forbløffende! De føles ikke skrøbelige, men næppe heller solide. Jeg ville ikke have dem på i træningscenteret, men til en løbetur går det nok. De er enormt behagelige at have på, og det lange kabel gør dem velegnede til monitorering under tracking i (hjemme-)studie.

De har et meget tydeligt boost nede i bassen, men de forekommer mig stadig rimeligt klare i toppen. Det er ikke en hovedtelefon til at mixe på, men kan nok fint bruges som proxy reference for "consumergrade" hovedtelefoner.

Overraskende gode til prisen, men selvfølgelig ikke en hovedtelefon i verdensklasse.

I purchase these just in case my AKG K271 give up unexpectedly and to my surprise, this headphone sounds good, well built and very affordable.

Pros:
1. comfortable & light - good in longer period of time in my home studio, a friend to my ears
2. well built - the cable is robustly thick and headphone structure is solid
3. affordable - quality, performance and functionality, way too good for its price

Cons:
1. From the mid range to its high frequencies, it's a bit unequal to its low end and sometimes can be overwhelming.

Over all, it's a good affordable option. Good buy, a good buy indeed!
