If you like delay this is it. End of story. I've had them all. Timeline, Halo, Memory Man etc. I sold all the others but this El Cap V2 will be with me forever. It's off the charts good and now with MIDI capabilities that I have yet to explore. Exciting times.
Some great, natural delays coming from this pedal. Very tweakable once you get into all the secondary functions and start saving presets. I have a Chase Bliss Faves switch saving my presets and it works perfectly. I listened to this pedal VS my Source Audio Nemisis delay and El Cap wins easily for natural and warm tones.
I had the El Cap V1 for a few years and never really got it to sound great with my guitar but the V2 seems to be tuned a little differently and I quickly got (and saved) some interesting sounds. In the first 10 minutes I was having fun in a world of warm delay. Also it's light weight which is great on the tour board and the spring reverb has it's own knob. If you want warm tones and thick analog sounding delays this is a great pedal.
I'll be honest, I bought this thing for the sound on sound mode alone. Although, I was pleasantly surprised with the other sounds I got out of this box. Especially the spring reverb.
El Cap has always been my favorite tape delay (digital) pedal. V1 is a classic for a reason, and the V2 brings excellent improvements. First of all, the MIDI capabilities expand this pedal for those who want tons of presets available.
For us who like the simplicity and hands on approach, there's great improvements here too. Live editing mode makes secondary function settings much easier to set and recall (led blinks when your knobs are at the saved position). Spring knob is a great addition. Now it's super easy to add or remove reverb (this was a huge hassle for live gigs with V1) and you can even use V2 for spring reverb only - without adding any delay at all. That wasn't possible in V1.
Tonally, there seems to be a touch more fidelity thanks to the new ARM DSP chip with more processing power and premium analog JFET input circuit. El Cap is still the king of digital tape delay.
