Be careful when ordering this product. Whilst it's not stated in the item description as being specifically for a 35mm pole (it's instead described as being an accessory for a specific stand) I looked at it and assumed it would be a 35mm top hat fitting that I could use to mount my own cross bar on a speaker stand - it isn't! The photo looks like that's what it is, but the tube diameter that it accepts is narrower.
The actual quality of the unit is very good and I've now managed to make use of it for something else and found it to be very nicely built - no stripped threads or damage.
Basically: take a random rod or pipe or pole and make a stand out of it!
(check the diameter)
I've used it on improvised light stand for a 2,5 kg fixture. No problems.
Standard thread so you can easily replase the nut with sometfing wider if you need.
The Stairville LST-310 is 28mm. No-one else makes 28mm stands, so no one makes fittings for them. This adaptor is the only single light adaptor which will fit properly.
That said, the stands are light and tall, so this adaptor is a cheap, quick & easy way to put a moving head or wizard type effect on a stick.
I cut the screw from the bottom, opened 4 holes on the base and screwed it on the side of my pedalboard. I use it as a microphone base! Just put the mic stand in, tighten the screw and done!
Waste of money - doesn't fit any of my stands, or any from my local studio who has a whole bunch of different stands. Thomann don't appear to sell one either so why sell something so useless ?
Added this to an order as I thought it could be handy for mounting a laser behind me but .... err, NO !
