I bought the Selmer Concept mouthpiece in April 2015 and have been using it ever since - firstly on my Buffet S3 Prestige and now on a Buffet 'Senzo'. Although considered a 'classical' style mouthpiece I find that there is the power and flexibility to perform all styles on music. It does sound rather more 'Paul Desmond/Phil Woods' than 'David Sanborn' when playing jazz but the smooth sound is very addictive.
For 'classical' music it is fantastic. At first I found it rather restrictive after a Selmer SA80 C* but increased my reed strength to a 3.5 Vandoren V12 or V16 and it just sings. Intonation is exceptional, the 'altissimo' register is really easy to produce at all dynamics and articulation, even double and triple tonguing, is unbelievable. This mouthpiece is worth it's cost and Thomann was the cheapest supplier by far. Thanks!
Excellent classical mouthpiece. I was contemplating buying this mouthpiece for quite a while but I wasn't sure what value it would add to my collection of Selmer mouthpieces. I think purchasing it was an excellent choice.
It works well with various reeds e.g. rico grand concert select, vandoren blue. Due to the narrow tip opening a hard reed is recommended.
Excellent response. Facilities articulation in fast, technical passages.
If I could find one negative point is that Selmer offers this mouthpiece in a single tip opening.
Now I need to order this mouthpiece for my soprano .
