I purchased two of these for matched pairs of Sennheiser 8040s and 8020s. Research showed that they were recommended as being more effective at inhibiting structure-borne rumble than Sennheiser's own overpriced MZS 8000 mount.
These are made from the same high-quality and non-brittle plastic that Rycote uses in all their products. I expect this to last.
If the brass fitment (5/8" fitting) is removed the mount will attach to the non-US standard 3/8" fitting.
The mount incorporates a clip for holding the cable which may prevent cable-borne vibrations causing interference.
The clips hold the 8020s/8040s securely, they are faced with rubber to grip and prevent scratching, but it is a bit of a struggle to get these mics in in the first place.
They really only work with short tube microphones and it has the perfect size if you want to apply a BBG on the mic.
Unfortunately is not as robust as the INV-7, for example.
The torque system is too small and it gets loose easily. Must be tightened very hard or doesn't work at all. You cannot count on a middle term as we're used with Rycote shock mount systems.
Does exactly what I need it to do which is to carry my short shotgun for indoor locations. It's more robust than it looks and takes the rycote baseball well for when there's any chance of breeze from open windows or swinging doors.
