I bought this to use with my in-ear setup in liver performance. I have one input from my vocal mic, one from my guitar and one as an overall mix from the desk- it works perfectly! The sound quality is excellent and the item is robust. I also like the fact that it is very compact and the features it has makes it so easy to cable everything up. My only wish would be for the instrument input to be XLR or Line so that you have a choice, but, I have got around this by running my guitar cabinet mic through a small valve preamp first and then a line level out into the Rolls PM 351- works a treat!...
It is easy to use, and the sound is clear. It is shipped though with a piece of crap power supply, which generates a really annoying noise. Once I passed it on my Carl Martin pedal power supply, the noise vanished, and I cannot be glad enough to have a product not only for live monitoring but also for recording. I threw out the power supply.
We use the Rolls boxes for In-ear monitoring for a 6 piece corporate function band. Also for independent monitoring for home studio recording. Great way of getting started with in-ear monitoring without it costing an arm and a leg.
Great to be able to give an instrument and a voice a boost in your own mix.
Only con is the jumper switches are a pain in the posterior to switch. On a dark stage it would be a nightmare. Surely a small switch wouldn't add too much to the cost.
Loses a star for the jumpers.
I ordered this personal monitor with mixed feelings. Didn't know what to expect... is it useful on stage?
Now I'm glad I bought this, because I'm able to adjust the level of the main mix versus my keyboard and my vocal. Earlier I had to ask sound engineer to do that (which sometimes was annoying).
The only gripe is that there is no power-on button. You have to plug in power cord to switch the device on. But it's no big deal, taken how useful this device is. Only get good pair of headphones!
