Bought this to install a built in bass drum mic ! This will remove any unwanted bass drum overtones and also hold the bass drum mic in place ! The crossed shape cuts in the rubber top part enable you to move the microphone on both the x an y axis in order to pick up the beater area as much as you would wish ! This pillow sticks to the inside of the bass drum using velcro so you can remove it easily if need be ! This is ideal for inbuilt microphone installations where you want to eliminate a bass drum port hole in the resonant skin and having to use a microphone stand. Just drill an XLR hole in the bass drum and you're all set for plug and play kicking !
This is a super product for in the studio.
If you have a drumset that you only record in your own studio or such.
If you wan't to use this for gigs please keep in mind that you can not remove the metal bolt that keeps the mic in place..
This will damage the inside of your shell when transporting your basdrum..
Great dual use peice of equipment. It provides dampening on both the batter and resonant heads and overall sound absorbamcy taking out unwanted mid and treble in the bass drum sound. Secondly is a very effective mic mount in the centre off the bass drum if that's where you like your mic positioned. Personally I do, so this solution works for me...
