For holding a lyre it is fine and more robust than some others. I changed the felt though for a more sturdy nicer tight fit.

You can carve off the felt the piece with a small knife easily, It is all nickel coated with a tough thick nickel layer and wont get hurt easily. Then glue on a thicker non synthetic kind of felt or just keep it as is It works fine. It looks really nice on my silver trumpet. I have 2 of these now and they are staying on the instruments.

The screws are good quality and also the hinge is sturdy.
