Good cable with uncomfortably tight RCA-connectors
Operabuff 27.01.2014
The cable is soft and pliable, i.e. it can bend well.
The RCA-conenctors are a very tight fit to all RCA-female connectors I’ve tried the cable with. Both the center-pin and the ground-sleeve. So tight that one should be careful when removing the cable from “cheap” (not so strong) female connectors.
Except for the overly tight RCA-connectors, it is a nice cable.
2. Plastic is too sensitive to heat, so it is not suitable for modifications. Or be extremely careful.
3. Pins 1 and 3 on the xlr connector are connected. This can negatively affect the sound in some combinations.
The negative phase of the signal is connected to ground.
Be aware of that.
4. The wire is copper, dark copper, this can be an indicator of oxidation. Which is also not good.
5. Now I'm going to order Neutrik connectors and assemble a quality cable.
Does exactly what you'd expect, however, one of the four ordered arrived without the small cutouts on the RCA connector end.
It was unable to fix and expand over the female connector. Easy fix and honestly not too much of a problem
To be clear. This is NOT the same quality as other more expensive patches and adaptors. But I bought them to have as a backup to get me out of problems and be able to finish my gig. And the do exactly that.
If I'd need something top quality for studio jobs I would choose other adaptors or make my own.
