Making a Mustang Styled Guitar look more Authentic - Pickup Covers
Y.Kawaguchi 05.12.2017
I had disliked how my Harley Benton had looked with the white, open holed strat style pickup covers and had thought to change them, I picked a pair of these pickup covers and loved the look of them. Though it was an easy install, the staggered pickups became an issue as the cover wouldn't be seated all the way. As of now the bridge pickup cover has got a dent from the pickup though not really noticeable. For flat-poled pickup, I would definitely recommend. But if you have a staggered pickup and is not too fussed over Mustang pickup covers, I would recommend and open holed pickup cover.
Pros:
- Inexpensive
- Matte front
- Looks Great
- Works well as a cover
Cons:
- Will not seat all the way
- Front Plastic can be dented
I found out that the holes on all the other available black covers won't line up with the polepieces on my pickups, so I had to buy these and modify them.
The top has a very rough texture, which I didn't like so I sanded it off and polished it with some silverpolish I had lying around, then I used the stock covers of my Cort G260CS as a guide to drill out the holes in the black ones, and finally I had to make the holes for the screws just a little bigger, now they fit perfectly and they look great.
DiMarzio. That is what I am thinking of when I see this Cover. I wanted the look of the hot guitar pickup which hiding the pole pieces. I was not easy to insert them, but if they are built it no problems will appear in future.
