Fist of all, the mic is sturdy and that's crucial for live shows. I know what I'm talking about - it's been dropped several times and still working. Compared to a similar mic by Shure, it sounds pretty much the same but costs half as much. Right, there are better sounding mics out there, but you don't have to worry about sounding like rubbish with this one either.
I was completely surprised of this kick mic. I also have an AKG D112 but I use it for a 20" bass drum. I needed a cheeper for my 16" . It brought that clear and deep tone what I like from the first time. From a 16" bass drum !!! The sound is realy great. I recommend this mic for everyone who needs a cheep, trusted and handleable mic for the stage.
Overall just a nice and sturdy mic. been using it for past 3 or 4 yeras as my bass drum mic, and it works well for that (though it's still a bit mi-range heavy). nowadays I just use it on my floortom and it sounds massive for that purpose. can't go wrong for what it costs would be my advice.
